Kahmen is an experienced doula with a passion for exploring the mind body connection and preserving traditional midwifery practices; both practical and those that address our spiritual needs. Her abilities as a remedial massage therapist, experience working in Chinese medicine clinics and as a yoga and dance teacher allow her to sit confidently in the sacred space of birth. As a mother of two with a childhood up brining in a rural veterinary setting, her trust in the natural birth process and down to earth nature creates a safe and functional birthing space for families.
A dancer from a young age and professional on the stage later in life, it has been a natural progression for her to combine the love of movement and childbirth together. With a specific interest in esoteric and spiritual dance expressions from traditional cultures such as Africa and Brazil, Kahmen has travelled abroad and continues to be inspired and delve into the rich anthropological history of birth and our connection to the natural world.
Kahmen has supported women to birth in hospitals, both public and private, birth center settings and at home with midwifery led care. She has first hand experience and knowledge of lotus birth and cord burning, including herbal and placenta preparations for the vital post birth period to naturally aid postpartum recovery. VBAC is also a growing area of support and has successfully supported couples in welcoming their baby's as naturally as possible after previous caesarean experience. Kahmen is now on the educational path at ACU studying to become a professional midwife.
